LPG Leakage Detector
Electronics Project Engineer
Project Report
Name – LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) Leakage Detector with SMS System
Objective – To detect the leakage of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) and alert the user through SMS in case
Motivation – Sometimes there is an accidental Leakage of LPG at our homes and we do not even get to know. If we are in the house, we may get to know about it with the smell. But if we are not in our homes or away from the leakage site, then we may not even get to know about it. In case of LPG Leakage, there can be a huge disaster. But it can be prevented by using my LPG Leakage Detector.
What it does – This detector can help you to detect LPG Leakage, especially when you are out. Whenever there is a leakage, the buzzer of the LPG detector will start ringing and the GSM module will send an SMS on your phone and you can know about the Leakage. It is very cost effective and can be afforded by anyone and everyone. There are several such detectors in the market but they can’t inform you in case you are out and the SMS system which I am using in this LPG Leakage Detector has a huge advantage over the ones available in the market. On receiving the SMS, the person can take immediate action to protect his house from a devastating disaster.
Structure – The boards which I used for this model are Arduino UNO and GSM SIM900A module. The GSM module can make phone calls and send text messages. The sensor which I used is MQ 6 Gas sensor which can detect and measure gases like LPG and butane. I even used a buzzer. For power supply, I used 9 Volt battery (for Arduino) and 9 Volt 2 ampere Power adapter (for GSM module).
